ACCEPTING DONATIONS NOW THRU JULY 31ST!
Due to the recent changes in state legislation regarding marijuana, the Carlsbad Police Department is in need of new drug dogs to be trained as K-9 Officers. Due to the extensive training that goes into preparing a dog for this career, "un-training" them isn't an option. CPD had three dogs in their K9 program before the legislation changes. One dog is eligible for retirement, one has been transferred to Andrews, TX where he can continue to be used under their state laws, and the third will likely be transferred to Texas as well.
We're calling on the members of our community to join with us as we step up to fulfill this need. The base cost to purchase and train each K9 is $15,000. We have set a goal of raising $50,000 to support this program; $30,000 to purchase two dogs and to send their new partners to complete the intensive training beside them, and an additional $20,000 to be used to purchase all necessary supplies/equipment for the continued care and safety of these K9's and their partners.
These drug dogs will be great assets in improving the safety and quality of life in Carlsbad, and that's what we (the Coalition) are all about! We have kicked off this campaign by contributing the first $15,000! We're asking our entire community to join in the efforts and give however you can. Whether it's $5, $500 or $5,000, every donation brings us closer to our community goal!
Individual and corporate donations are welcome and receipts can be provided. All donations are tax-deductible as we are a registered 501c3 non-profit organization.
Thank you for your generosity and for playing an important part in improving the SAFETY & QUALITY OF LIFE in Carlsbad, NM!
*100% of all donations received for this project will be used for the K9 program.
No funds will be used for overhead expenses or for any other purpose other than the purchase,
training, equipment and ongoing care to support the Carlsbad Police Department K9 program.
